What changed in each release

# Porchsite changelog

Every release, newest first. Porchsite never updates itself: the owner decides,
and their assistant follows "Updating" in the install guide (https://get.porchsite.dev/install.md)
or, for the server edition, "Updating the server edition" (https://get.porchsite.dev/self-hosting.md).
Every release stays downloadable at https://get.porchsite.dev/v/<release>/. The same data: https://get.porchsite.dev/changelog.json.
Each release's files and their hashes: https://get.porchsite.dev/v/<release>/files.json, shaped
`{"version": "<release>", "files": [{"path": "sitekeeper.js", "url": "...", "bytes": 1600000, "sha256": "..."}, ...]}`.
The newest release: https://get.porchsite.dev/latest.json (its `files` have the same shape; `all_migrations`
lists every database file in the order to apply them, each with `name`, `url` and `sha256`).

## 2026.10.16-13e52fa

**Security release: update soon.**

- Photos you add no longer keep the location where they were taken, and photos are shrunk before upload unless you choose to keep the original.
- Your site can play videos and tours from sources you approve, right on the page.
- A new Listing look for selling one property: a big photo, price and stats, a gallery, tours, open house, contact and an optional brokerage line.
- Your site now has a sitemap, phone numbers in your pages can be tapped to call, and adding many photos is quicker.
- Going back to the previous release is safe even after you use the new features.
- Reconnect your assistant after updating so it sees the new tools.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): 0016_embed_sources.sql, 0017_site_fields.sql.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: yes, the tool list changed.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.13-7bde887

- Before you approve, the preview now shows every page of your site, not just the home page.
- An assistant can't connect to a site until its owner has claimed it, and the site says so instead of half-connecting.
- The setup page shows which site you're claiming and what the name is for.
- Reconnect your assistant after updating so it sees the clearer site check.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: yes, the tool list changed.

- Setting up your assistant now covers Grok Bot, the Claude app, ChatGPT and Meta AI by name.
- Assistants tell you which look and colours they picked for your site, and what else you could have.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.12-091da60

- A new guide, Setting up your assistant, shows how to get the most out of the assistant app you already use with Porchsite.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.12-e11d4ab

Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.12-f68b7ff

- The install guide gives assistants the right Cloudflare token link for a brand-new account.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.12-d98dadd

- The event look shows ordinary posts that sit alongside your events, instead of leaving them off the home page.
- A new assistant key now reminds you to put it in your assistant's settings, never in a chat.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.12-05ad8c8

- The one-page installer shows the claim link once your new address really works, without upsetting your browser.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.12-98ce918

- The one-page installer is smoother on a brand-new Cloudflare account: it asks for everything up front and only shows the claim link once the new address works.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.12-572dab9

- New sites can be installed from one page, get.porchsite.dev/install/, for assistants that can't use Cloudflare themselves.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.12-f72ba30

- An assistant that can't reach your site at all can hand you one file with everything it wrote; upload it from your review page and it's checked and waits for your approval like any other change.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.12-a4d295f

- An assistant that can't connect with a sign-in can use a key instead: make one for it on your Assistants page and put it in its secret field. It can only draft, like any assistant, and you can revoke it there.
- Assistants can send a picture they have as a file straight to your site, instead of asking you to upload it.
- Reconnect your assistant after updating so it sees the new picture tool.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): 0015_assistant_keys.sql.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: yes, the tool list changed.

## 2026.10.12-d382513

- A shared journal entry now shows its photo with its title in large type across it, so a link on X reads as the article, not just a picture.
- Your browser makes these cards when you open your review page or approve something; older entries get theirs the next time you open it.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): 0014_share_cards.sql.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.12-1562c9a

- Your assistant has a new check, site_check: before it asks for your approval it can find links on your site that lead nowhere and sections with nothing in them.
- The menu only shows sections that have something in them.
- Reconnect your assistant after updating so it sees the new check.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: yes, the tool list changed.

## 2026.10.12-6a53e48

- The install guide names the Cloudflare connector that can do the whole install, and says to put content in only through the site's own tools.
- Every release file also has a copy on GitHub, for assistants whose network can't reach get.porchsite.dev.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.12-da1480d

- Porchsite is open source: both editions, the looks and the spec are on GitHub (github.com/iXanadu/porchsite), and this is the first release built from the public code.
- The personal-homepage look's project filter works on any site, whatever its projects section is called.
- Sample sites use made-up phone numbers, places and handles.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.12-a2a70f2

- Connecting an assistant: if you have to sign in first, you now land back on the Allow screen instead of your review page.
- The install guide asks your person about the site's name and address before anything is made, and never takes the old address away before their passkey works at the new one.
- The install guide forbids changing the site's code (only a release's own file is ever uploaded) and says to send finished work as one approval request.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.12-a39ab73

- A big review (30 changes or more) opens and publishes in about the same time as a small one; it used to sit for many seconds and look stuck.
- Pressing Approve now says at once that it's publishing, and can't be pressed twice; the same for sending back, saving your choices and putting the site back.
- The install guide ends by helping your person pick a look that fits their site.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.12-0fa4f7d

- You can change any of your look's own words ("Back to top", the not-found page, opening hours), for example into another language, and say what kind a card group is: FAQ, steps, reviews or a list.
- Your review page now says when your assistant has changes it hasn't sent you, and no longer shows a field as changed when only a default was filled in.
- Visitor numbers older than 90 days are kept as monthly totals, and sites on the built-in look are counted too.
- Putting the site back to an early version keeps your site's text; shared archive pages show their newest cover photo.
- Passkey sign-in refuses a bad answer cleanly instead of erroring, and every connected app must use the secure code exchange (PKCE).

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): 0013_analytics_daily.sql.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.12-2ce79ce

- Quick checks of a page (HEAD requests) now get the same answer as a visit; some pages wrongly said not found.
- The update guide is clearer, from its first real run: it lists every database change so a site that skipped releases knows what it's missing.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.11-0d1682b

- Your site now tells your assistant when a newer Porchsite is out, and your review page shows one quiet line about it. Nothing ever updates by itself.
- Every release now lists its changes in plain words, says if it's a security fix, and can always be rolled back by putting the previous version back.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.11-13513a3

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.11-4612202

- The owner claims a new site from a link (/setup?code=...), with the code already filled in.
- Setup codes can be issued after install, work once and expire; claiming the site ends them all.
- Needs one new database file (0012) before the new site code.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): 0012_setup_codes.sql.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.11-60d1716

- Fixed: on Cloudflare, an owner page that should say 'not found' or 'link already used' showed a server error instead.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.11-87a208a

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

- Cards can be public, a mention (name only) or private (never shown, and its name refused in anything public).
- Visitor counts without cookies or stored addresses, at /review/stats; the assistant gets a site_stats tool.
- The owner can write and publish a page directly at /review/write.
- Site history at /review/history: put the whole site back as it was on an earlier day.
- Adds a tool: reconnect the assistant. Needs one new database file (0010) before the new site code.

Database files to apply first (Cloudflare edition): none.
Reconnect the assistant afterwards: no.

## 2026.10.10-050d3f8

- The product-page look: an entry's cover is small spot art, not a screen-sized square.
